Soak's Spring Update: Wirecutter rave reviews & more!

May 2024

Hello from springtime in Canada. The energy bursting from the Soak office feels quite aligned with the flowers and plants stretching from the ground with the promise of sunshine, good things and color everywhere. So many projects, big plans and micro-tasks being tackled in all departments. Here’s an update on some marketing and operations things that are driving us forward!

Soak & Wirecutter

We have once again been (lovingly) overwhelmed by the latest editorial mention of Soak in Wirecutter,an outlet of the New York Times Company.

To quote them specifically,

“Experts research, test and review hundreds of products across categories in real-life scenarios to recommend the best option for the task at hand.”

Since 2011, Wirecutter has been a trusted source for product reviews. This is a great article about how they work, if you want to learn more. We were delighted to have been vetted (in great detail) many moons ago, and are very proud to still rank amongst their most featured products  and as The Best Detergent for Hand Washing Clothes.

We don’t get any advance notice when articles mentioning Soak launch. It’s a dream to wake up with messages, texts and DM’s from around the world alerting us to another feature. When these magical media pieces hit, we try to ensure inventory isn’t scooped up by a single point of sale and we have enough stock for everyone. We also let our global database of stockists know when these articles hit, so they can share in the Soak joy.

Meet Rachel

Speaking of reviews and research, we are thrilled to announce the hire of a Director of Operations at Soak Wash Inc. Please meet Rachel Belanger. We’ve known Rachel for quite a while. Her skills and availability, combined with our growth at Soak (and the need to scale our current systems in a great way) aligned for us to make it official, and have Rachel join our leadership team.

Rachel comes with over 15 years’ experience in consumer goods. She’s got experience with everything from 3PL management to new product launches. She’s worked at Dyson, Coca-Cola and even the pet industry, so our office puppy is thrilled.

Please welcome Rachel to our team if you work in supply chain and logistics. We look forward to her skills showing up across all levels of the business as we grow.

Social Media Sharing & Algorithms

As you know at Soak, we love learning. We love teaching and sharing resources to improve the lives of our stockists and consumers. Well, META has done it again, and updated their methodologies around content ranking, recommendation and sharing — so we are back at social media school, figuring it all out.

Implemented to help creators find new audiences, some highlights of the changes include rewarding original content, removing aggregators, and upholding existing community and recommendations guidelines. You can read more about these changes here.

So, how will these Instagram policy changes affect you as a Soak Wash B2B customer? As far as we understand, the Soak content our customers re-share should not be affected. As a Soak wholesaler, you have explicit permission from Soak Wash to use images and content from Insider Information.

We’re letting you know, because we love sharing content with you and always offer our content up for re-sharing.

Rest assured we are keeping our eye on it, as the new policies take hold, and will report back in with any updates. Should anything unusual arise from your use of our content provided in Insider Info, during the implementation of these updates, please let us know.  We’re here to help!

In the meantime, remember that you are our trusted source for information. We love hearing from you, seeing your video tutorials, washing demos and customer testimonials from at home and in-store, so please keep on creating content! We appreciate you.

Stay Soakworthy.
–Jacqueline
